Through The Magic Cloud – A New Children’s Fantasy Adventure Book for Ages 6–11

Book cover of Through The Magic Cloud, a children’s fantasy adventure by Nicky Lyng

Finally! After the roller coaster of the last few years, I am absolutely thrilled to announce that Through The Magic Cloud – A Lily Rose Adventure is now published and available through Amazon and other online bookshops.

Written by Nicky Lyng, author of The Chronicles of Horton The Hare, Through The Magic Cloud is a new children’s fantasy adventure and fairy tale for readers aged 6–11, and the first of three books in the Lily Rose series.

The story begins when Lily Rose blinks three times, rubs her nose and is suddenly whisked from her bed through a magical cloud of coloured stars and fairy dust.

She finds herself in a strange miniature world where she meets Bodgybink and his apprentices, Fidgytink and Fixytink, who give her gossamer wings and shrink her to the size of a butterfly.

From there, Lily Rose discovers a magical world filled with memorable characters, including a Queen in her palace, a Talking Tree, the Red Dragon in the Far-Off Mountains and the mysterious BOTs from Over The Hills.

Along the way, Lily Rose helps her new friends solve tricky situations, with kindness, helpfulness and friendship at the heart of the story.

With fun black-and-white illustrations throughout, Through The Magic Cloud is an imaginative bedtime story or independent read for children aged 6–11, and for anyone who still loves the magic of a traditional fairy tale.

This is the first of three Through The Magic Cloud books, with Books 2 and 3 due to be published this autumn, along with Book 3 in The Chronicles of Horton The Hare series.

This has been quite an achievement for us both, and we are absolutely delighted to finally see the book published.

Horton Chronicles Story Read

Some are born heroes; some strive to be heroes; some have the title ‘Hero’ thrust upon them. Follow the adventures of Horton, that most unlikely of heroes, and his loyal and trusted companions. Laugh when they find themselves in tricky situations; despair when they are in trouble; and join in the party when everything turns out well. A book in three parts, an enjoyable read for children of all ages!

Part 1 – Horton Becomes a Hero

How could Horton know that on that fateful day when he made a decision to seek out his friend Ernestine, his life would be changed forever? How could he know that his friends’ lives would be changed forever? How could he know that all their lives would become inextricably linked with the people living and working at Bunglebury Hall, and the community in the nearby village of Bunbury?

Just one day, and Horton would be declared a hero!

No masked or caped crusader, Horton finds himself in circumstances where his quick thinking and decisiveness save situations from becoming dire consequences. Suddenly his life, and that of his friends, change as they become involved with the goings-on up at Bunglebury Hall. The effects of these then become influential in the lives of villagers in nearby Bunbury.

When problems arise, they all turn to Horton for his “I Was Thinking” solutions. Hare-brained they may seem, but his solutions are creative and imaginative and usually work!

A humorous modern children’s book with echoes of the past, this interaction of a group of anthropomorphic animals with humans at Bunglebury Hall and the nearby village of Bunbury is the first in the series of The Horton Chronicles. The stories follow the adventures of our unlikely hero, Horton, his BFF Morton, and their companions from Willow Wood, Dingley Dell, the fields of the Bunglebury Estate, and Bunbury village as they save The Hall and the community from disasters.
